For more than 25 years, La Perrada Colombiana has been bringing the authentic flavors, traditions, and street food culture of Colombia to Tampa. What began as one man's dream has become a local tradition where families, friends, and visitors gather to enjoy authentic Colombian food and create lasting memories.

More than 30 years ago, Javier Giraldo left Colombia and arrived in the United States with little more than determination, a strong work ethic, and the dream of building a better future for his family.
After making Tampa his home, Javier realized something was missing. While the city offered many great places to eat, it lacked the authentic Colombian street food that reminded him of home, the bold flavors, comforting recipes, and lively late-night food culture that brings people together throughout Colombia.
Determined to share those traditions, he opened a small food cart, serving authentic Colombian favorites to Tampa's late-night crowds. Every order was prepared with the same recipes, passion, and hospitality that had shaped his life back home.
That small cart wasn't simply serving food. It was creating connections through culture, memories, and shared experiences.

As more people discovered La Perrada Colombiana, what started as a humble food cart quickly became a favorite gathering place for both the Colombian community and adventurous locals eager to experience something different.
Through years of dedication, consistency, and the incredible support of the Tampa community, Javier expanded from a food cart to a food truck, and eventually into the restaurant that has proudly served Armenia Avenue for more than 25 years.
Today, many of the guests who visited La Perrada in its earliest days now return with their children and grandchildren, continuing a tradition that spans generations.
While the restaurant has grown, the mission has never changed: to serve authentic Colombian food with the same passion, generosity, and hospitality that inspired its very first day.
